Dress Up

One of the most common questions that we receive is: How do you manage to get your cats to wear clothing/hats? There are several things that we do to make it as easy as we can for the girls.

We want the cats to be as “comfortable” as possible. We choose items of clothing that we hope won’t bother them too much. If a hat has a strap that we think might irritate them or if a costume is on the smaller side, we won’t bother to try it on them. We want them to be able to move around naturally and not pull at the item of clothing. If they’re uncomfortable, they’re not going to be happy and neither are we.

We do our best to be quick with photos/videos. If it’s hard for us to sit still as humans, we can’t imagine how hard it is for our cats to sit still. The cats are never in their costumes for more than a couple minutes at a time. They let us know if they’re not in the mood and if they’re not, the clothing immediately comes off. Photos are taken when they’re willing to humor us.

Lastly are the rewards. The cats are showered with even more affection (if that’s even possible) and are given treats. We tell them what good girls they are and give them lots of pets. As soon as the clothing comes off, they all run into the kitchen because they all know that they are getting treats.

We would like to note that every cat is different. Not every cat can or should tolerate dress up. If your cat does not want to dress up, we don’t believe in forcing it. Your cat will let you know in his/her way what is okay and what is not okay. The cat’s comfort and happiness is number one in our eyes. We hope that this helps <3
